Big response to call for new homes for locals drive

The Director of Cornwall Community Land Trust says he has been very encouraged by the very strong response from local communities across Cornwall to the CLT’s new drive to help more families in housing need.

The Director, Andrew George, a former MP, and his former MP colleague Sarah Newton were both speakers at a well-attended seminar in Truro last Friday, which has seen a rush of enquiries for projects to meet the need for affordable homes.

Mr George said, “This is an encouraging start to 2017. Our aspiration is to more than double the number of homes Cornwall CLT provides each year – from about 20 to more than 50 every year. The community response encourages us to believe this is more than achievable. We’re about to commence building work in Duloe and Rame in the east and west of Cornwall, adding 34 new homes this year alone.
