Parliamentary Debate on Housing Availability in Cornwall and Isles of Scilly
Andrew George, MP for St Ives has secured a debate in the Houses of Parliament on 9th September to highlight the Housing Crisis in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Until his re-election to Parliament in July Andrew was CEO at Cornwall CLT and therefore has first-hand experience of the challenges faced in the County. After securing the debate Andrew said ‘I’ll be able to refer to my 9 years recent experience working in a professional capacity in the sector in Cornwall. Though the case of Cornwall and Scilly may be viewed as at an extreme end of a spectrum of housing need, many of the proposed solutions I intend to advance should have wider applicability.’
The debate will raise topics including the extent of need, effectiveness of current solutions, the planning process and tax incentives and disincentives. If you have any commentary or examples on this please let Andrew know before the debate at
