What is proposed?
Cornwall CLT is working on proposals to provide 23 new affordable homes for locals in St Dennis. We have kept local community leaders informed and consulted on the early stages. We now welcome wider community feedback before we proceed with a planning application.
The 23 affordable homes will be rented. Part of the deal with the landowner also requires 4 open market plots which will be in accordance with Cornwall Council’s affordable housing policy.
Who will be eligible?
Priority will be given to people in housing need with an established local connection to the Parish of St Dennis. An applicant will be considered ‘local’ if they have an established local connection in the basis of long term residence, past residence/upbringing, holding a job in St Dennis or through strong family connection.
What are we proposing to build?
No final decision has been made on the precise mix of houses. But it is anticipated that a balance of the following will be built: 4 x 1 bedroom homes; 2 x 2 bedroom bungalows; 10 x 2 bedroom homes; 7 x 3 bedroom homes.
How much will they cost?
Until the homes are nearing completion it is difficult to accurately predict the rent levels. However, there are guidelines we’re required to follow, including that the rent levels do not exceed housing allowance/benefit levels.
How to apply for a home….
Even if we proceed quickly we do not expect the new homes to be available until early 2024. However, even at this stage, if you are interested we would encourage you to register:
